Pantelleria, Italy

An island shaped by wind, stone and capers

It started with a garnish on a Bloody Mary.

A caper —from a tiny volcanic island between Sicily and Tunisia called Pantelleria.

Farmers here still rise before dawn to harvest each bud by hand from bushes clinging to volcanic rock.

One question at brunch. One island that answered it.
