When an idea keeps knocking…..
The Seed to Soul journey began quietly, my 3 children were grown and I was on a trip in beautiful Andalusia, Spain, getting used to being with just me… or so I thought. A casual invitation to join my filmmaker Airbnb hosts for a glass of wine and conversation gravitated to the question of “what’s next” and we meandered through past, present and future which with a second glass of wine I boldly declared my dream to begin a real search for my next chapter of belonging…which I believed would be a farm…somewhere.
So after saying goodnight I returned to my little sanctuary overlooking the mountains and in the moonlight the idea took its best chance and threw open a portal of “what if “ and that download has been an unwavering guide to me ever since.
I knew somehow that documenting this journey was meant to be and when all the pieces came together effortlessly I wasn’t surprised. What I didn’t realize at the time was that there was a much bigger reason for this journey than me looking for my farm…
I had no idea, to be honest about any of this - I had never been in front of a camera or “hosted” a show, but yet in my soul I knew what this was about. Growing up in Iowa and a myriad of experiences gave me my love of culture, tradition and travel. 4 years in Bali while my teenage kiddos attended an incredible school called The Green School gave us all an education in sustainability and so much more.
So what is the magic sauce of Seed to Soul you’re asking, it’s actually quite simple, it’s the farmers, the wisdom keepers, those that keep tradition and culture alive and all the wonders of the diverse world we live in. From lotus farmers in Bali, to snail farms in Greece, capers in Pantelleria Italy and everything Yak in Mongolia its a fascinating world that I feel incredibly blessed to document. What started as my own search, has blossomed into something my heart and soul knows grows within all of us. Seed to Soul 🌱
