When the journey becomes
the destination……..
Seed to Soul is a global journey exploring farms, culture, and the people who keep traditions alive.
I’m Dee Ann Bauer — a mother of three children and the creator of the Seed to Soul docuseries.
My life has taken many forms - studying international management, building a global furniture company with my husband, and later creating a spiced coffee business in Bali rooted in healthier, more intentional living. That thread, curiosity, entrepreneurship and a desire to do things differently has always been there.
Being a mom was a central part of my life, and now, with my children grown, there’s space to follow that thread more fully.
This didn’t begin as a project.
I was in southern Spain, traveling alone, when a quiet question surfaced — what’s next?
A search for a place - somewhere I could contribute, improve a small corner of the world, and begin again. What I found was that my heart connected deeply to farmers and wisdom keepers along the way, and that creating a way to share these stories became incredibly important to me.
That journey became Seed to Soul - and the search continues.
I grew up in Iowa, where connection to land was simply part of life. Years later, I lived in Bali while my children attended the Green School — an experience that shifted how I understood sustainability, not as an idea, but as something lived every day.
I’ve spent much of my life drawn to people, to culture, and to the beauty of our diversity.
Seed to Soul follows that thread.
I spend time with farmers and those who live close to the earth — following my curiosity like with the caper farmers in Pantelleria, Italy, lotus farmers in Bali, and rewilding my own yard in Charleston, South Carolina.
To listen.
To learn.
To share
and… to find my next place to belong.
That’s Seed to Soul… A Journey.
